HongKong Day 1

21 August 08, Thursday.

I slept very late the day prior to my trip. Like I've said, when you are finally on vacation, getting away from the stupid work, spending hundreds to thousands bucks on a trip, you must really stretch the value and worth of it. Monetary and non-monetary wise.

As a result of late night sleeping, I woke up pretty zzz in a few hours time. Nonetheless, get up,make up and go. No, I won't look plain even when I'm going for holiday.

Jason was late. -__-* Thanks or no thanks to his buddy who drove us, I guess I wasn't very friendly to them. I didn't talk nor really smile much when I see him & his girlfriend.

Photobucket I guess this is where we said Goodbye to Singapore. I'm leaving on a Jetplane~It's Cathay Pacific.

My plane.Photobucket

PhotobucketYou couldn't ask for much on a Economy class but it's still better than budget airplane. With TV,warm food served and even Hagadaz ice-cream, I feel much better already~

It's around 3 hours plus later when we reached HK safely. (Thank God!)
PhotobucketPhotobucket PhotobucketPhotobucket

One thing about travelling to a new country is that every single bit excites you. Even what's on their toilet door. (See last pic) I wonder if tourist in Singapore did that as well?

Photobucket Welcome to Hongkong!

Photobucket At the passport checking out area, I was asked to spell my name. Apparently that custom guy didn't think I look like my passport photo and he compared the pic against my face for a few times. The same thing happened when I was returning back to Singapore @ HK,except I wasn't asked for my name.
Why huh??Got so much difference meh???

I brought my brain along. It's called Jason.Photobucket

I was a lil' pissed when our travel agent told us we have to follow the Citytour if not we can't go to Ocean Park. I specifically asked if we could skip the Citytour in Singapore cos' I do not want to waste them in a coach seeing Jacky Chang's house. I have heard all of those from my
and time's the esscence here!

Nonetheless one gotta do what one gotta do. Find KrispyKreme as per Von's recommendation!

Photobucket

Before we found KrispyKreme, we found this first. Now can anyone tell me how does a person hid inside a balloon mascot??? HOW?!!!

Photobucket
I am not a wild fan of donuts and is relatively sick of those fried dough and butter smell whenever I walked past yet another donut outlet in Singpore.
I was watching Sex and The City on the plane just now and Charlotte was talking about KrispyKreme ORIGINAL~and it makes me craving for one. Wait a min...Or is it FRIENDS that was talking about KrispyKreme?? Nvm...

Photobucket

Assortment of fresh donuts!

Photobucket Simple polkadot packaging is so nice sometimes.

Photobucket Extra big pic for this! Original glaze donut!

Photobucket Ready...Taking out.

Photobucket BITE! >.<

Photobucket - Gasp- @.@!!!!!

Photobucket OMFG!!! I've never eaten a donut so smooth,so soft, not over sweet and it went beyond description. This lil piece of donut is the START of my sinful eating in HK. I figure if I managed to open a franchise outlet in Singapore, the rest of the donuts in SG can go die liao.

Random pictures taken on the coach.

Mountains, clustered and dirty looking buildings & streets, hanging signboards everywhere. No, HK despite all of those ain't as turning off as it sounds. Afterall this is HK and somehow you would love every sight that you see.

And we reached our hotel.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Yes, I'm dreaming. Disneyland is lotsa fun and I shall cover it on Day 4 entry. If Disneyland is lotsa fun,can you just imagine their hotel & resort? Who would you sleep with?Mickey?

Mine is the 4 star Kimberly Hotel located in between TST and Jordan. Actually nearer to TST.

Photobucket

Despite sayings of small hotel rooms in HK, I find ours not that bad! Maybe it's a 4 stars value but hey,if you have seem my hotel @ Thailand, this hotel is like worldclass to be compared! And we have a Watsons just at our hotel ground level. There are 7-Eleven,shopping malls, HK Cafes just opposite, Granville (Forgot how to spell liao) just nearby etc. Can you spell Convenience for me?

PhotobucketInside the lift.

After settling down, we proceed to shop. We didn't exactly have an itenary to follow like Day 1 do what, day 2 do what. I did attempt a short note and let's just say, I am better at being spontaneous.

We didn't know exactly where to eat and so we randomly walked about. When we settled at one decent looking rest/cafe sort @ a quiet street, I didn't know it was actually....

Photobucket KimGary until they showed us the bill.

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

You can't expect everything to be dirt cheap in HK. Not their food especially. Perhaps it is cheap by Singapore's standard. For instance something like that might costs alot more in Singapore. But one thing about travelling is if you spend too much time comparing the prices, you would lost the fun.

Maybe it is some mentality problem but somehow you would find HK's milktea alot nicer than local's. If it makes you happy thinking that, why not?

Back to HK's street.

PhotobucketARGH!!! Fyn, there's PARKLANE here!!!I dun wanna go to work`~~~~~~~~~ =p

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

I realised one thing about HK is that the pple are like EVERYWHERE. It's like they don't work, don't sleep etc. But it's cool,it's cool!!

We decided to go Fa Yuen Street. Cheap deals, sports streets...Tell me about it!

First time taking MTR is so exciting!

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Boarded the train @ Jordan and here we go....

Photobucket

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

We alighted @ Prince Edward stop.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

I heartx this pic and how many people find us stupid? I don't give a damn!

HK MTR are so much interesting than SG. You would find alot of shops and bakeries within. I have not tried any of their bakeries (But I did bought home MAXIM (Not the bras) almond flakes! SUPER NICE lo!!)

PhotobucketBooks in vending machines. Get a load of that!

The signboards turn alive at night and the streets are more vibrant than ever.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

PhotobucketPhotobucket

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Along that stretch of Fa Yuen Street is like hundreds of queenstown shops 'plat' together!

Photobucket

Jason was just so happy to be there.

PhotobucketNot me.Lol. Kidding lah. I wasn't as bored as I looked. Maybe it is just HK. Given it is SG, I would really look like that except grumpier.

After a brief shopping, we proceeded to Avenue of Stars.

Brands in HK just look rich and big!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket Ok...Maybe Nike is a bit not so related but I think it should be expensive? If not why the hell is it lying along the stretch of ATAS?

I lost quite a few of those picts taken at Avenue of Stars. =((( Oh well..anyway it was too dark and both my camera & hp can't take proper pictures. Here are the remanings...

Photobucket The scenary is very nice overthere. It's like seeing a very big Marina Promenade across to Raffles/Shenton.

Photobucket Hehehe.

Jacky Cheung!Photobucket

Leon Lai.Photobucket

Jacky Chang!Photobucket

Bruce Lee didn't get to put his prints on time so I put a foot in.Photobucket

No Stephen Chow! Boo!!Photobucket

That more or less ended Day 1. I think I lost some details but nvm lah...The bulk is here. Oh yea..I tried their Curry Fishballs & Fish Siewmai bought from 7-11(as recommended in the list given by Yin.). I was VERY hungry when I finally ate that despite a full meal earlier on. The curry fishballs are like rubberballs but something new bah.

Typhoon NURI started to blow in on Day 1 night. It was Signal no 3 when we were at Avenue of Stars and when we wake up, it was no 8 and then 9 at Day 2 night.

TBC.

Photobucket This entry takes up apprx 3 hours plus hor!!! Read every single word and savour!

Love,

Ling
